Scoot Airlines is a new budget airline, wholly owned by the Singapore Airlines group, which would offer low cost flights from Singapore's Changi International Airport. Reports are that it will be launched in June 2012, and that in-flight Wi-Fi will be used to impress passengers.
Initially, Scoot plans to focus on destinations that are 5 to 10 hours from its base, with flights from Singapore to Australia & China under consideration.
Scoot will face competition from Air Asia X and Jetstart (owned by Qantas).
Scoot airlines plans on starting with a single Boeing 777-200, but quickly increasing its fleet size to 4 planes within 3 months after launch, and then expanding to fourteen aircraft by mid-2016.
